World Renown Poet/Activist Andrea Gibson to Perform in Eureka

What:

International Women of the World poetry SLAM champ Andrea Gibson is returning to Humboldt County on June 7th to rouse us with her poignant messages of social justice. “To call her one of the best poets would be a gross understatement.” says HBO Def Poet Andrés Gómez, “her words cut so sharply and completely they cannot be shaken.” One of the four spoken word powerhouses who performed as the Salt Lines quartet to a standing-room only crowd at the Kate Buchanon Room in March, Andrea Gibson is back for a solo performance at the Accident Gallery in Old Town Eureka, Sunday June 7th at 7pm. Tickets willl be sold for $7-10 at the door. Matt Peiken, of Metaphor Media places Gibson “among the nation’s most admired and emulated poets. Her verse is at once personal and political, concrete and abstract, feminist and universal, filled with incinerating verbs and metaphor and delivered with gut-punching urgency.” Vanessa Pike, co-founder of local poetry collective A Reason to Listen and member of Humboldt County’s first national SLAM team, states that Andrea “is truly one of the best female poets in the world! Don’t miss this show!”
