Eight well-known North Coast singers will gather at the Eureka Woman’s Club for the SecondAnnual Torch Song Summit on Saturday November 7 at 7:30 pm. The event promises an entertaining eveningfilled with elegant, alluring songs of love lost and unrequited. Proceeds will benefit the Reading Service of theRedwoods, a local radio reading service for the blind. Tickets will be available at the door ($20 suggesteddonation), and advance reservations will be appreciated.The evening of sweet-sounding voices will feature Anthony Mankins, Nanette Voss-Herlihy, RoseArmin-Hoiland, Kevin Richards, Ethan Vaughan, Evan Needham, Elena Tessler, and Joan Sikkens—all activein local theatre or musical venues. Accompanying on piano will be Darius Brotman, Val Phillips, LindaAnderson, Tom Phillips and Laura Welch. The evening features a special appearance by a quartet from theHumboldt Harmonaires.Dennis Hunter will emcee the event. There will be refreshments and a silent auction.The Reading Service of the Redwoods provides an on-air broadcast of local newspapers and otherinformation for people who are blind or visually impaired. RSR’s service is free to qualified listeners andheard on a sub-carrier frequency of khsu-fm radio.
