Summer Reading Club
What:
This year the Humboldt County Library will be sponsoring a Summer Reading Club at the Main Library in Eureka, all Branch Libraries and the Bookmobile. The theme is “Make a Splash—READ!” and young participants will be going on a reading adventure to recover sunken treasure.
Each club member will receive a gameboard designed as a treasure map. There are obstacles to be met and overcome. Progress is earned by reading library books. It takes 22 books to complete the game. Younger children can also play the game by listening to stories read to them by an older sibling or parent. Upon completion, each child will receive a coupon for a free personal pizza from Round Table.
The Summer Reading Club begins as soon as school gets out, which varies by community. Each library will offer a kick off party for the Summer Reading Club and the schedule of parties yet to come is as follows:
Hoopa Library on Thursday, June 17 at 11 AM, with Storyteller Paul Woodland

Blue Lake Library on Wednesday, June 23 at 10:30 AM, with Puppeteer Sean Powers

Community sponsors of the Summer Reading Club include the Humboldt Area Foundation, Humboldt Sponsors, Humboldt County Library Foundation, First 5 Humboldt and Round Table Pizza.
