Study Abroad With AFS
It’s not too late for local high school students to plan to study abroad next year! Students who are curious about spending a year of high school or a gap year after college in another country are invited to learn about AFS Intercultural Programs. Parents and friends are welcome too.
There is still time to make arrangements to study abroad in 2010-2011 for a summer, semester, or year. With more than 140 programs in 40 countries around the world, AFS Volunteers can help each family find the right program!
Scholarships are available. This year, besides full language study scholarships and Global Leaders Scholarships, local scholarships (minimum of $500) and a special scholarship for a student from Humboldt County who completes an application to study in Latin America are available.
AFS, the oldest and most trusted high school exchange program in the US, works toward a more just and peaceful world by providing international and intercultural learning experiences to individuals, schools and communities through a global volunteer partnership. Now, more than ever, it is important for young people to gain a deeper understanding of their responsibility in an interconnected world. For more information, visit afsusa.org or call AFS at 1-800-AFS-INFO.
Join us April 14, 2010 from 6:30-8:30 pm at the Family Resource Center at Fortuna High School. For more information, contact Alyse (ali1017@yahoo.com)
