Spring Farm Tour

What:

Join the Community Alliance with Family Farmers (CAFF) for a Farm Tour of the Mad River Community Hospital (MRCH) campus farm on Sunday June 27th from 2 to 4 pm.

The tour will begin with an introduction by farm coordinator and Food Service Director, Todd Heustis.  Todd will share the inspiration for the hospital’s farm as well as explain how MRCH uses ultra-fresh produce in the cafeteria.  Farmer Isaiah Webb will lead a tour of the efficient and all-organic farm right on the MRCH campus.  After touring the grounds, sample farm-fresh produce prepared by MRCH chefs.

CAFF works with local institutions to promote fresh, healthy, and sustainable foods.  This farm tour highlights the concept of Farm to Hospital, a grassroots movement which counterbalances over-processed fast food options with healthy, organic foods in hospital cafeterias.  The MRCH on-site farm is one of the first of its kind, and represents an innovative approach to providing healthy food and encouraging activity amongst hospital staff and visitors.

The tour will begin at 2 pm at the east end of the hospital campus (suggested donation is $5).  Follow signs past the emergency room entrance and park in the back parking lot. Bicycle parking is available!

The Community Alliance with Family Farmers (CAFF) is a statewide agricultural nonprofit that advocates for family farmers and sustainable agriculture.
