Spagetti Feed

What:

Spaghetti feed fundraiser set for Feb. 5

Whether or not you plan to participate in the Feb. 6 Trinidad to Clam Beach Run and Walk, the Trinidad School 5th/6th grade’s annual spaghetti feed and raffle is the place to be the night before.

Track coaches have long maintained that loading up on carbohydrates prior to a big run is an excellent idea, but the school’s spaghetti event also offers a plethora of prizes to win and a delicious dinner surrounded by schoolmates and friends.  Not to mention that your kitchen stays clean and the proceeds go to a good cause.

This major fundraising event not only kicks off run festivities, but also helps send teacher Rebecca Leuck’s class of 30 students on a four-day springtime adventure to the Mendocino Woodlands Outdoor School.  There, the students study the redwood forest and stream ecology, as well as paying a visit to area tide pools.  The class, along with students from several other schools, will also participate in a physical challenge course with the aim of teaching the youngsters to work together.  Instruction continues at mealtime as students learn to take only what they can eat to avoid waste.

And speaking of eating, the spaghetti feed, coinciding with the Greater Trinidad Chamber of Commerce’s Trinidad to Clam Beach Run and Walk for more than 20 years, features homemade meat or vegetarian sauce, hot French bread, salad made from locally grown fresh greens and a choice of coffee, tea or milk.  Students from Leuck’s class will also be on hand to serve homemade desserts and act as the waiters and waitresses for the ever-popular event.

A Dutch raffle featuring prizes ranging from passes to Mt. Shasta Ski Park to gift certificates for area businesses will be held throughout the evening.  Raffle tickets are just 25 cents each.

Those with light appetites pay just $3 for a mini meal. But if you really need to load up on those energy-boosting carbs, opt for a $6 medium meal or the $7 mega plate.  Tickets can be purchased at the door or by calling 677-3631.

The Feb. 5 dinner is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Trinidad School gymnasium, 300 Trinity St., Trinidad.

Load up on carbohydrates at the spaghetti dinner with either a meat or vegetarian sauce and participate in the raffle by buying tickets at just 25 cents each.  Meals range from $3-$7.  Tickets can be purchased at the door.  Trinidad School is located at 300 Trinity St., Trinidad.  For further information call 677-3631.

Planning to run in the Greater Trinidad Chamber of Commerce Trinidad to Clam Beach Run and Walk on Feb 6?  Then Trinidad School is the place to be the night before.

Eat mounds of energy-building spaghetti and size up the competition as the students of Mrs. Rebecca Leuck’s 5th and 6th grade class put on their annual pre-race spaghetti feed and raffle from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5.

With meal tickets ranging from just $3 to $7 the dinner is a steal.  But what’s even more of a steal are the raffle tickets, at just 25 cents each with one of the grand prizes being ski passes to Mt. Shasta Ski Park.

Proceeds help the Trinidad students pay for their annual trek to the Mendocino Woodlands Outdoor School come spring time.

Support the runners, support the school, eat spaghetti and maybe win a prize.
