Sunday, 9 p.m. Humboldt Brews, 856 10th St., Arcata. Five-piece kick-ass, funk rock band that lets loose in a not-so-spiritual fashion. $10. 822-1220.
What:
SB6 is back and oficially headlines this one. Last time here they were suddenly and unexpectedly put in that position and IMHO, that was how it was meant to be anyway. The band plowed effortlessly through styles from rock to reggae, punk, ska & hip hop. Frontwoman Laila had the crowd in the palm of her hand, inspiring a circular mosh pit and mesmerizing those in attendance with her unique vocal style. This band is on fire and makes No Doubt look like a lounge act. Knock-Out makes their first appearance here in Humboldt. They just completed a European tour with SB6 and are now doing the same here in the US. KO mixes ska, punk, reggae and hip-hop, and have worked extensively with Voodoo Glow Skulls on tours and recordings (both bands are from Riverside, CA go figure). Killbot Factory continues to impress. If you haven’t seen them yet, don’t miss out. These 10 guys and girls will show you a very fun and horn-tastic time. Prepare to be uplifted.
