Sierra Club Headwaters Hike
What:
On Saturday, July 31, the North Group Sierra Club is sponsoring a free public hike to the Headwaters Forest Reserve in Eureka. This 11-mile, medium difficulty hike begins at parking lot at end of Elk River Road trailhead. Hike is level for first three miles, passing through scenic second-growth redwood forest along Elk River. Last two miles are steep climb and loop through beautiful old-growth section. Return along same route. Bring snacks & water. Carpools meet at 9 a.m. at Herrick Park & Ride lot off Highway 101 or at trailhead at 9:30 a.m. No dogs allowed.
