Join the North Group Sierra Club for an 11-mile hike through Headwaters Forest Reserve on Saturday, Nov. 7. The hike begins at the parking lot at the end of Elk River Road, Eureka. The level first 4 miles pass through a scenic second-growth redwood forest along the Elk River. The last 2 miles before the return are a steep climb through a beautiful old-growth section. Carpools meet at Herrick Park-and-Ride lot on Hwy 101 at 9 a.m. or the trailhead parking lot at 9:30 a.m. No dogs allowed. This free hike is open to the general public, but you must register in advance by calling leader Xandra at (707) 441-0702.
