Scotia Band: Celebrate America!

What:

Scotia Band, Humboldt County’s community band, will be featured in The Ferndale Repertory Theatre’s (447 Main, Ferndale) annual patriotic salute to the USA “Celebrate America!” Sunday, July 4 at 3 pm. Band director Michael McClimon will also serve as Grand Marshal of the Parade on Main Street in Ferndale, which begins at noon.
This year, in addition to its festive tradition honoring our country, the program will celebrate The Scotia Band’s 75th Anniversary. Band member Sharon Holt wrote the multi-faceted production hosted by Marilyn McCormick and Vikki Young. Enjoy a slide presentation of historical photos from the band’s archives accompanied by rousing traditional and patriotic songs, guest vocal artists David Demant and Pat Foran, and, of course, the celebration of our national pastime (“Take Me Out to the Ball Game” in an arrangement by the band’s director, Michael McClimon).  In addition, the band will be presenting its new signature piece, “The Scotia Band March,” written especially for the band’s anniversary year by McClimon. The traditional military salute and spectacular balloon-drop finale will close the program.
Early reservations are suggested as Celebrate America! is always SRO! Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children under 16. Call 786-5483 to reserve your seats today. Don’t miss it!
