HCCO/ GI Rights Hotline

Humboldt Committee for Conscientious Objectors (HCCO) members joined The GI Rights Network in November 2001, received extensive training in military law and policy, opened an office in the Redwood Peace & Justice Center and began taking calls on January 15, 2002. They answer calls from Northern California and ten Western states, assisting more than 104,000 callers to date; service members, their families, and young people facing military recruitment. They are funded entirely by the local community, especially the RPJC, Veterans for Peace, and local Quakers, as well as many small donors who make the GI Rights Hotline possible.

Currently located at 1385 Eighth Street Box C, Arcata, CA 95521. The Hotline is staffed by trained volunteers who provide accurate, comprehensive, and objective information about Selective Service and Military Law, regulations, and administrative procedures to anyone affected by military service or recruitment. (Active Duty, Reserves, National Guard, and DEP), Their phone number locally is 826-0165 or toll free at 877-447-4487 or 800-394-9544. Find them online at http://www.girightshotline.org
