What:
Once again it’s time to prune the roses. The Humboldt Rose Society is providing two demonstrations so that interested members of the community can review some “best practices” when it comes to providing recommended care for your roses. On Saturday, January 14, at 10 a.m., Miller Farms on Central Avenue in McKinleyville will be the setting. They would appreciate a call to reserve a space: 839-1571.
On Saturday, January 28, 10:00, the demonstration will be at Pierson’s Nursery, South Broadway in Eureka (at Pierson’s Building Center). No reservation call is necessary.
This is also planting time for roses. Going to one of the demonstrations will also provide a time to select some new roses, especially those that do well in this area. The “rosarians” (members of the Humboldt Rose Society who have passed certification), along with giving the pruning demonstration, can also provide good advice on planting as well as the care and feeding of roses.
