SHAFER’S ACE HARDWARE AND GARDEN CENTER PRESENTS A ROSE SEMINAR
Shafer’s Ace Hardware and Garden Center, 2760 E St.,in Henderson Center, Eureka, will present a free gardening seminar for the care and maintenance of roses on Saturday May 1, 2010 at 11:00 am. The seminar will be conducted by members of the Humboldt Rose Society, including President Doug Durham and members Judy Bonds, Gaird Hamilton and Sue Silva. All presenters are recognized as Consulting Rosarians. The seminar will help homeowners with techniques to grow and enjoy the best roses for their gardens. Gardeners are encouraged to bring their rose questions.
Among the topics covered will be the proper fertilizing and feeding of your roses, Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and disease control, the best types of roses for the north coast area, proper pruning and care and an opportunity to have your questions answered by these roses experts.
They will be assisted by Shafer’s professionally trained Garden Center staff, led by Darryl Aberbom, Garden Center Manager and Buzz Rieman, both holding the designation of California Certified Nursery Professional.
The Humboldt Rose Society meets the second Thursday each month at Christ Episcopal Church, Eureka, at 7:00 pm. They have approximately 60 members.
