What:
The Northcoast Environmental Center is proud to announce a River Cleanup Day Saturday, May 15, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. followed by a volunteer picnic until 4:00 p.m.
Volunteers clean trash and debris from the banks of Warren Creek, a tributary to the Mad River. Local participants will scour shorelines of Warren Creek to pickup household dumpsites.
This year, the Northcoast Environmental Center’s goal is to recruit at least 50 volunteers to clean the banks of Warren Creek where we’ve located a number of dump sites near the creek. This trash will ultimately get into the creek and then make its way to Mad River.
For more information call the Northcoast Environmental Center at 822-6918, visit the website at www.yournec.org, or stop by at our office at 791 8th Street in the ground floor of Jacoby’s Storehouse in Arcata to learn more about the event. Participants will be provided with gloves and bags for trash and recyclables. Participants will meet at 10:30am on Saturday, May 15th in the parking lot of Pumphouse #4 down Warren Creek Road.
Many thanks to Big Pete’s Pizza, Mad River Brewery and the Arcata Garbage Company for sponsoring the clean up.
