RepFest 2011

What:

Get out your grass skirt and coconut bra! The Ferndale Repertory Theatre invites you to their annual RepFest to be held on the evening of Saturday, March 19 at the Ferndale Community Center (formerly the Pavilion). The theme of the event is South Pacific in keeping with the theatre’s upcoming spring musical.

This year’s RepFest includes a full schedule of events and entertainment. Sweet Basil Catering of Loleta will provide an authentic Hawaiian dinner featuring Kalua Pork, Huli Huli Chicken and other delicacies. The Tiki Bar will offer fruity frozen drinks, a full bar and local wines. The Pavilion will be transformed into a tropical paradise (forget the rain outside!) and entertainment will include songs from the upcoming production of South Pacific, hula lessons, photo corner, and contests for best costumes, limbo dancing and more.

Master of Ceremonies Carol Larsen will keep things moving throughout the evening. At 8pm, auctioneer Stephen Strawn will take the stage to present great packages for your bidding pleasure. Event Commander-in-Chief, Kathy Gropp says “the community has been so supportive; we have wonderful donations from more than 90 businesses and individuals, many of which are one-of-a-kind items that you can’t buy in a store.” These include: a crab dinner for 8 hosted by Bill Klatt; dinner and overnight stay for 4 couples at Loleta’s Southport Landing courtesy of Tom Hofweber; a hot pink electric guitar signed by Spanky McFarlane and members of her band; dinner for 4 hosted by Jimmy and Jacqueline Smith; a golf package with rounds at local courses; 2 nights at Benbow Inn with dinner and golf; a Spa party for 4; artwork by Jack Mays, Joan Katri and Larry Eifert; an evening in Old Town Eureka with shopping, carriage tour and dinner hosted by Laura Hussey; an airplane ride with Brian Morrison; luncheon for 8 at the home of Kay Cohn; antique fire engine ride, followed by lunch and ice cream for 12 at Cream City Café; guided horseback ride on the beach hosted by Jerry Boots; pizza and beer party for 12 hosted by Steve Sterback; fitness packages from InLight Fitness courtesy of Michael Pedrotti and Healthsport courtesy of Shawna Bryant; cocktail party for 12 at the VI courtesy of Jenny Oaks and Lowell Daniels with South Pacific show tickets; wines from Frog Alley Cellars, Moonstone Crossing, Fieldbrook, Lost Coast; local delicacies including fish from Katy’s Smokehouse, chocolates and Mad River Beer; fun packages for kids, and more. Gropp assures “there will be something for everyone”.

A list of items is available on the theatre website and on display at the theatre. Those unable to attend may place an absentee bid on any item, and one of our volunteers will bid for you.

The Ferndale Repertory Theatre is a non-profit community theatre that has been providing fantastic live entertainment since 1972. The Rep currently stages six full productions each year, and offers many special programs including youth workshops, holiday school matinees, a Fourth of July spectacular, and more. According to Producing Executive Director Ginger Gene, “The theatre holds a single large fundraiser annually, and this is it! We need support from our community to keep doing what we do, and this is a fun way to support the theatre. Please join us!”

Tickets for the event are $50 each and can be purchased locally at Rings Pharmacy (Ferndale), Green’s Pharmacy (Fortuna), Wells Fargo Advisors (318 5th St, Eureka), or Blue Moon (Garberville) until March 14.
