44th Annual Kinetic Grand Championship Race

Tomorrow, Sunday, Monday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. A 3-day, 42-mile kinetic sculpture race over land, sand, mud and water! LeMans start at the Noon Whistle on the Arcata Plaza. Redwood Acres Criterium

What:

Most of Humboldt County’s bicycling enthusiast participated in last weekend’s grueling Tour of the Unknown Coast. Next weekend is their chance for a race with few hills (none) and a faster pace at Pacific Outfitters Redwood Acres Criterium. The racing action all happens on the 3/8 mile oval track normally used for car racing. There will be racing for all abilities and ages and a variety of other 2-wheeled activities for all to enjoy.  The racing action will be fast and close and with the entire course being visible from the grandstands it makes for a great show. Spectating is free.

10:00 - 12 Noon FREE! TEST RIDE A CANNONDALE OR A FELT

Pacific Outfitters will bring out a fleet of bicycles. Experience the latest from Cannondale and Felt on the super smooth 3/8 mile race track–no traffic, no traffic lights, no pot-holes…just you and a thoroughbred bicycle.

10:00 - 11:30 FREE! PACIFIC OUTFITTERS BIKE MECHANIC CLINIC: Learn to perform basic bicycle chores: fixing a flat tire, cleaning and lubing your chain, adjusting shifting and changing brake pads. Bring your own bike and your desire to learn.

12:30 Just For Lil’ Kids. FREE! A free lap o’ fun for the little ones. Bikes, trikes, Big Wheels, Striders, etc are all welcome and everyone gets a ribbon at the finish line.

1:00pm Race #2, Big Kids Race, age groups, 8-10, 10-12, 12-14, 14+ 15-Minutes + 1 lap.

1:30 pm  Men Beginner Adults, 20-Minutes +1 lap,

2:00  Fastest Lap: FREE to anyone registered in the other races.  It’s a one at a time  lap against the clock. Fastest man & woman each get $25 Pacific Outfitters Gift Certificates.

2:30 Fastest 2 Laps: FREE to anyone registered in the other races.  It’s a one at a time lap against the clock. Fastest man & woman each get $25 Pacific Outfitters Gift Certificates.

3:00 pm  Mens Intermediate, 30-Minutes +1 lap,

3:45 pm Race  Women’s 20-Minutes+1 lap (All women will start together, but we’ll award placings in beginner, intermediate and expert categories)

4:15 pm Race  Mens Expert, 45-Minutes +1 lap

5:30-ish: Huffy Toss: Right after the 50 Minute. FREE ! Using the UHTI (Union Huffy Toss Internationale)Rules.  Winner takes home the remaining bicycle debris plus a $25 Team Bigfoot Gift Certificate.

6:00 pm Race, MISS & OUT: This final event of the day will be WILD! Each entrant puts in $10; the last place rider on each lap gets pulled out. The last rider left takes all the MONEY!

PRIZES: Top three in each category receive medals. Expert mens & womens winners also get $150 Pacific Outfitters gift certificates, 2nd place expert men & women get $50 Pacific Outfitters gift certificates.
