What:
Westhaven Center for the Arts kicks off its Summer Youth Program with a free puppet making workshop for children 7 and up Monday, August 9 from 10 am to 2 pm. WCA staff Susan Allen and Debbie Dew help kids make four types of fun, easy puppets. “Each child will go home with a troupe of puppets ready for a show!,” said Allen, adding that parents are welcome to attend and participate in all WCA Summer workshops. A lunch of pb&j sandwiches, juice, fruit, and veggies will be served or kids can bring their own sack lunch. Class size is limited and pre-registration is required. Parents can call WCA at 677-9493 for information and to register. WCA’s Summer Youth Program is funded with grants from Humboldt Area Foundation, St. Joseph’s Health System, Humboldt County, Melvin & Grace McLean Foundation, and the Patricia D. & William B. Smullin Foundation. Three more workshops are planned through September.
