The Humboldt County Beekeepers’ Association will meet from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 2, at the Adorni Center. Dick LaForge will talk about preparing hives for winter. Mr. LaForge, a retired chemist, has many years of beekeeping experience. For about a decade, he taught beekeeping classes through HSU extension and has mentored many new beekeepers. He keeps bees in rural Eureka. Also on the agenda will be the election of a new president for 2011.HCBA meets on the first Thursday of each month, February through October, at the Adorni Center, 1011 Waterfront Dr, Eureka. Attendees are asked to contribute $2 apiece toward the room rental and other expenses.
