Pi: The Physical Comedy Troupe

What:

Don’t miss the clown invasion of the Arcata Playhouse on August 27, 2010 at 8pm. Pi: The Physical Comedy Troupe presents “Slices for All,” a clown show that will have audiences of all ages rolling in the aisles. Tickets are sliding scale donation $10-$15.

Recently returned from great acclaim at the Berkshire Fringe Festival in Massachusetts, the members of Pi are excited to make their Humboldt debut. Pi is a physical comedy troupe based out of San Francisco and is devoted to exploring the world and examining life’s mysteries through a lens of wonder. Six clowns currently comprise the ensemble Pi, which was founded at the University of California at Santa Cruz in 2005. With feats of incredible strength and acts of transcendental stupidity, the Pi Clowns take on the big questions of life (and death!). Their original work relies on the physical virtuosity of their bodies and uses elements of mime technique, acrobatics, juggling, eccentric dance, live music, improvisation, and puppetry.

Since its foundation, Pi has had the distinct pleasure of performing in venues all over the United States and won a “Best of the Fringe” award at the 2008 San Francisco Fringe Festival. Bruce Glaseroff and Tyler Parks, both natives of Humboldt county, are thrilled to return home from their travels with lessons in laughter and lollipops.

Make sure to arrive early if you are buying tickets at the door or avoid the melee and reserve them at pi.clowns@gmail.com. “Slices for All” premieres for one night only at 8pm on Friday, August 27, 2010 at the Arcata Playhouse, 1251 9th Street, Arcata, California.

Contact Pi: The Physical Comedy Troupe via email at pi.clowns@gmail.com or at 831.207.7356 for further information and ticketing. Also visit us online at www.piclowns.com.
