Photography Exhibition Entry Day

What:

The Redwood Art Association (RAA), Eureka Photoshop Users Group (EPUG) and the Redwood Camera Club are teaming up to hold Humboldt’s largest judged photography exhibition at the new RAA gallery location at 423 F Street in Eureka’s Old Town.

Entry day will be held August 21st between 11AM-3PM and is open to all Humboldt County photographers. Each photographer is allowed up to submit up to 3 entries, $15.00 for the first piece and $20 for each one after.  No membership to the Redwood Camera Club, Eureka Photoshop group or the RAA is required.

“It is exciting, to again, be a part of an all photography event in Humboldt County.”, stated Sharon Falk-Carlsen, Redwood Camera Club President. “The number of entries last year was amazing.  The quality of the photography was a true testament to photography as an art form in Humboldt County.  We are looking towards an equally amazing exhibition this year.”

The exhibition is underwritten through a generous grant from Pierson Building Center.

All entries will compete for more than $2,400 in awards. Grand prize is an Adobe CS5 Premium Suite valued at almost $1,700.00.  This year’s judge will be Don Gregorio Anton.

Don Gregorio Anton has an exhibition record that spans coast to coast, as well as overseas. His work can be found in collections across the country, including the Baltimore Museum of Art, Consejo Mexicano de Fotografica, the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, the Museum of Photographic Arts in San Diego, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and more. He has given lectures and workshops throughout the country. He currently teaches at Humboldt State University in Arcata, CA.
 
The show will run from August 25th through September 17th with the awards and preview reception happening between 5-6Pm on September 4th.  Regular gallery hours are 12-5pm Wednesday through Sunday.
