What:
Students from the Dell’Arte MFA ’10 class who brought you such favorites as Commedia Christmas Carol and Pelican Bay Speaks invite you, our audience and supporters, to an exclusive peak inside our ensemble based rehearsal process. During the week of April 5th to April 10th (schedule below) we will open our rehearsals for you to observe and give you the opportunity to share your experiences and responses with us. Your presence and responses will inform the final piece. We are excited to begin our relationship with you, the audience, earlier in the creative process than usual so that our connection can deepen and enrich the theatrical experience for all in the final production. We hope you will take this extraordinary opportunity to experience more deeply your role as audience in the development and performance of a piece of theatre. We cannot complete the theatrical equation without you.
We are now entering into our final project before graduation, Thesis. Through this project we are delving into the testing and exploring of elements we believe fundamental to theatre. The audience is such an element. You complete the equation that results in the uniquely communal theatre experience. Our group is looking to expand and explore the dynamic relationship between the audience and actor creators. Therefore, we invite you to join us in the early stages of our work-in-progress. At this point in our process we are focused on “uncensored play” and experimentation. We are using a variety of sources for inspiration, including “Good Country People” by Flannery O’Connor, in the generating of raw material from which we will construct the final piece. We look forward to sharing this experience with you.
Sincerely,
Julie Douglas, Elizabeth Colon-Nelson, Gabe McKinney, and Nicholette Routhier
Schedule: All rehearsals will be held in the Mime Studio on the 2nd floor of the main Dell’Arte building. You will, however, be able to leave when you wish by exiting through the back hallway push-bar door leading to the amphitheatre.
