North Group Sierra Club is sponsoring a 11-mile, medium-difficulty hike to Headwaters Forest Reserve in Eureka on Sat., May 8. Hike is level for the first 3 miles, passing through a scenic, second-growth redwood forest. The last 2 miles are a steep climb and loop through a beautiful old-growth section. Return along same route. This is a free hike for the general public. Carpools meet 9 a.m. at Herrick Park-and-Ride lot off Hwy 101 or at trailhead at end of Elk River Road at 9:30 a.m. Leashed dogs allowed. Call leader Xandra for more info, 441-0702.
