Nicholas Karavatos

What:

Poet Nicholas Karavatos and electronic guitarist Jeff Kelley will be performing in spontaneous collaboration on the Arcata Playhouse stage at 4:30 pm sharp on Sunday, August 1st at the Golden Road Music & Art Fair.

In this BENEFIT inter-media spoken word performance for the Ink People Center for the Arts, musician Jeff Kelley processes pitched signals layering sounds in conversation with poet Nicholas Karavatos reciting his poems.

NICHOLAS KARAVATOS is included in the anthology Punk Rock Saved My Ass (Ukiah: Medusa’s Muse, 2010) and the latest issue of West Wind Review (Ashland: University of Southern Oregon, 2010). In December 2009, Amendment Nine (Arcata) published his first book No Asylumhttp://www.amazon.com/dp/0984280006/ref=cm_sw_su_dp

Beat poet David Meltzer writes: “NICHOLAS KARAVATOS is a poet of great range and clarity. No Asylum is an amazing collectanea of smart sharp political poetry in tandem with astute and tender love lyrics. All of it voiced with an impressive singularity.” (from back cover)

At the No Asylum book launch at Arcata Theater Lounge in December 2009, spontaneously collaborating with poet NICHOLAS KARAVATOS in an inter-media spoken word performance were Art Brown (guitar), Edmond Dereadt (lights), Jeff Kelley (guitar), Mark Weston (percussion), & Shao Way Wu (bass). http://www.archive.org/details/NicholasKaravatos-2009December2-ArcataTheaterLoungeCalifornia
