What:
Visit Humboldt Bay NWR and celebrate National Wildlife Refuges Week on Saturday, October 16th, 10am – 2pm during the “Nature Family Fun Day” at the Richard J. Guadagno Visitor Center.
The National Wildlife Refuge System, with 547 national wildlife refuges nationwide, protects approximately 97 million acres of fish and wildlife habitat. Scores of national wildlife refuges, including Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Refuge, are offering special programs to celebrate National Wildlife Refuge Week.
We invite you to spend the day, bring a picnic and explore nature. Free activities hosted by the Friends of Humboldt Bay NWR include: live raptor presentation by the Humboldt Wildlife Care Center; make your own “green” bird feeder; find out what it’s like to be a migratory bird in the “Migration Madness” game, and take a stroll down “Birding Lane”. Discovery Packs, binoculars and field guides will be available for check-out use at the refuge.
Protecting our natural lands and the abundant wildlife that are dependent on them is essential to the quality of American life - and Refuge Week is a perfect time to visit these important wild lands.
