The Musicians of Bremen
What:
The Dell’Arte Company brings you a hilarious adaptation of the Brothers Grim classic, THE MUSICIANS OF BREMEN. Cast out of the farm that was their home, we join Rooster, Donkey, Cat, and Dog as they hit the road to the big city. Will they find fame and fortune? Will they outsmart the robbers? Will they find the home that they seek? Performed in Dell’Arte’s signature physical performance style, THE MUSICIANS OF BREMEN promises an amazing evening of laughter and music for your whole family.
THE MUSICIANS OF BREMEN a European folktale first recorded by the Brothers Grimm and most recently popularized by The Muppets. THE MUSICIANS OF BREMEN is the tale of a donkey, cat, dog and rooster, who out of sheer necessity, come together as an unlikely family. During their journey, they discover the joy of music and the power of living in harmony together as a community. With Dell’Arte’s signature physical commedia style, famous the world over for its inventiveness and ability to create other worlds, as well as live music and singing, THE MUSICIANS OF BREMEN will not be a holiday show anyone should miss— including the thousands of children who look forward to seeing Dell’Arte’s holiday show for FREE each year.
Dell’Arte has been able to give this community gift of live theatre every year for the past 29 years due in large part to the generosity of local businesses. For three weeks during the holiday season, beginning the day after Thanksgiving, Dell’Arte will tour THE MUSICIANS OF BREMEN throughout Northern California and Southern Oregon.
These touring performances, which take place in elementary and high schools, community centers and venues large and small, are always FREE. At each show, we collect non-perishable food items, which are then donated to local food banks.
It is estimated approximately 7,000-10,000 people, including local school children, will see THE MUSICIANS OF BREMEN for FREE this year. Dell’Arte is proud to have been able to create this free exposure to the arts, which is often the only live professional theatre thousands of rural children and their families see each year.
