What:
AS Presents Midlake and Matthew and the Arrogant Sea on Friday, March 5, 2010 at 9 p.m. in the Depot, Humboldt State University. Midlake formed in the small, quirky Texas town of Denton. There, the five diligent musicians toiled to create a sound that was both pleasing and of their own. They were soon discovered by Bella Union Records owner and Cocteau Twins bassist, Simon Raymonde. Their second album, The Trials of Van Occupanther, was released in 2006 and saw the band reach new heights like never before. Now with the completion of their third studio album nearing, titled The Courage of Others, Midlake is sure to deliver an album that will merit the high anticipation and expectations that continues to be showered upon them. “Midlake should be forever hailed for their unique and genuine approach to music,” wrote Jason Lee, Star of My Name is Earl and Midlake Cohort. Fellow Texans Matthew and the Arrogant Sea have been tagged to open the show. Tickets are $5 general and $2 for current HSU students. Tickets are available at the Works in Arcata and Eureka, University Ticket Office at HSU or at centerarts.humboldt.edu
