The Humboldt County Library is participating in a statewide event called a Mail Art Exchange. Participating libraries throughout California have been paired up to host displays of art work from their partners. Art work from Eureka will be on display in both the Lancaster Public Library and the Hayward Public Library throughout the month of August. Art from those libraries will be on display in the Young Adult Room at the Humboldt County Library in Eureka in August as well.

The Humboldt County Library in Eureka is sponsoring two Mail Art Workshops to produce the pieces for the Art Exchange. On Saturday, July 18 at 1:30 PM, there will be a Mail Art Workshop for teens, led by Megan Workman of the Ink People. The following Wednesday, July 22 there will be a Mail Art Workshop for Tweens, led by Dolores Guffey and JoAnn Bauer. Although these workshops are geared to specific ages, anyone is welcome to attend.

Mail Art involves the hand decoration of envelopes, postcards, packages and other items that may be sent through the postal service. All materials will be provided and refreshments will be available. These programs are made possible through a Summer Mini-Grant from the Humboldt Area Foundation.

These events are free and all ages are welcome. The Library’s programs and services are accessible to persons with disabilities. Please let us know if you require assistance. The Humboldt County Library is located at 1313 3rd St. in Eureka. For further information call JoAnn Bauer at 269-1910 or visit our website at www.humlib.org.
