The Salmon River Restoration Council, Mid Klamath Watershed Council, Klamath-Siskiyou Art Center, Klamath Knot Arts Council and the Karuk Tribe are sponsoring: a Klamath Watershed Arts and Music Festival in Happy Camp.
Music, Poetry and Spoken word artists include:
Friday - Hupa ceremonial leader and singer of popular folk rock tunes, Merv George; Julian Lang, Karuk storyteller, musician and poet, founder and director of the Institute of Native Knowledge; Yurok poet and muse, Shauna McCovey; the Salmon River's rock and roll band, The Superfines with special guest Mambo Hernandez.
Saturday - Southern Oregon's Alice DiMicele sings with a five-octave range that is intense, sensual, rich and soulful; Trinidad Goodsheild and 7th Generation Rise with indigenous soul music from the Redwood North Coast; Mi-She-kae, Poet/spoken word artist; Happy Camp's own - Indiamcee, AKA Basketball Bob.
The festival includes educational hikes and raft trips, involvement in local restoration projects on the Klamath River, a multitude of children’s activities, local art exhibits, craft booths, video and multimedia presentations, savory food booths, and riverside camping!
Music will be starting in the early evening of Friday, July 18th. Festival activities will begin Saturday morning, the 19th with rafting and educational hikes. Music is scheduled to begin in the late afternoon, all at the beautiful River Park off Hwy 96 in downtown Happy Camp.
Ticket Prices: $10 for Friday, $20 for Saturday, and $25 for whole weekend, $10 camping, with student discounts available. Tickets will be available at the gate.
