KHSU Anniversary Party
What:
Public radio station, KHSU is having a birthday party October 23, and like any good party, the station is inviting all of its friends to celebrate together at Mazzotti’s Arcata.
The KHSU birthday bash marks the actual 50th anniversary of the station’s official sign-on in 1960. It is also the last event in a year’s worth of concerts, specials, plays and music shows the station has staged for its golden anniversary year.
KHSU’s birthday party is free for KHSU members with a KHSU Membercard (and they’ll have a member list if you can’t find yours) and is $5 for those without a card. You can also become a member on the spot and get in to the party as a bonus. A buffet by of vegetarian or meat lasagna, salad and bread is available for $10 a person. Proceeds from the event benefit KHSU.
Entertainment will range from on-stage games and trivia for audience members to music by the soul and funk six-piece band, Vintage Soul. Humboldt State professor and KHSU contributor Dick Stull will emcee the on stage proceedings.
The event begins at 8:00 p.m. at Mazzotti’s on the Plaza at 773 8th street, Arcata. The event, and all the KHSU anniversary events, is underwritten in part by the North Coast Co-Op.
KHSU can be heard at 90.5 fm in the Humboldt Bay area and on translators in communities around Humboldt, Del Norte and Curry counties. KHSU is licensed to Humboldt State University. Information on the party is at khsu.org or by calling 826-4807.
