Get ready for guilt-free and gas-free shopping that supports our local public television station’s programs and services. KEET-TV’s 40th Anniversary Spring Auction will be broadcast on Channel 13 from 6:30 to 11:00 p.m., May 27, 28 and 29 and June 1, and 2. Twice a year, hundreds of local businesses generously donate merchandise and gift certificates to support the only public television station operating between Medford and Santa Rosa. This fundraiser gives viewers the opportunity to call in and bid on items ranging from musical instruments to home improvement supplies from the comfort of their own homes.
“For many years, the annual televised auctions on KEET have provided needed funds to continue broadcasting quality public television programming from Sesame Street to FRONTLINE on Channel 13,” said Ronald Schoenherr, KEET Executive Director. “Our dedicated community helps keep these programs on the air by volunteering as auctioneers, camera operators and floor directors, and by manning the phone banks.” Some of the volunteers coming in for the auction include staff of KHUM-FM, Winzler & Kelly Consulting, That Tree Guy, Starbucks, SHN Consulting Engineers, Hospice of Humboldt, Redwood Memorial Hospital, American Indian Art and Gift Shop, the Humboldt Amateur Radio Group, and the Humboldt Roller Derby Redwood Rollers.
Viewers can support public television while they shop for items like the Humboldt Roller Derby Package auctioned off by the Redwood Rollers themselves. Or they can save the energy of shopping in the stores and use it for a sea kayak tour, tango lessons, rocking out with a new electric guitar, playing a round of golf, tackling home improvement jobs, gardening, and enjoying NCRT season tickets that are all up for bid. The KEET Spring Auction can help families plan summer vacations with tickets to LegoLand, Great America, Sacramento Zoo or a Romantic Night in Eureka including hotel, dinner and a Madaket tour donated by Eureka Chamber of Commerce.
With almost $60,000 in merchandise, there is something for everyone. The complete list of items up for bid is available at www.keet.org.
