Interactive Youth Ecology Workshop

What:

Community members are invited to get their hands dirty in Fortuna on Earth Day, April 22.

California Conservation Corps and the City of Fortuna to host an interactive ecology workshop and a green fair at Rohner Park. The day kicks off at 8:30 a.m. and finishes around 12 p.m.

Several short presentations will be given by CCC corpsmembers on topics such as redwood ecology and trail maintenance at various points in the park.  The presentations will be attended by more than 100 students from Fortuna Union High School and East High School.

Community members wishing to participate should check in with the CCC’s Linda Stansberry on the morning of the event.  They will be able to help rebuild parts of the trail and pull invasive English ivy .

There will also be a wildflower walk led by Friends of the Forest at 11am.  A CCC recruiting booth will also be available for prospective corpsmembers.
