Inner Circle (reggae)

What:

Grammy-award winning reggae ambassadors, Inner Circle, will return to Humboldt County for a long-awaited local performance this Saturday, February 27th at the Mateel Community Center in Redway.

From their early days with Jacob Miller, through their international smash hit “Bad Boys,” and on to their highly-acclaimed new release, * State Of Da World*, Inner Circle have consistently reinvented themselves and remain one of the top reggae acts of all time.  In their 30+ year history as a touring band, Inner Circle’s unique brand of pop-oriented Jamaican beats and energetic live performances have allowed the band to transcend the traditional reggae niche and enjoy worldwide crossover appeal.  This appeal has led to appearances at many of the world’s largest music festivals where they have headlined alongside such towering pop and rock music icons as Elton John, Peter Gabriel, Van Morrison, Sinead O’Conner, The Black Crowes, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, Carlos Santana, and many others. Along the way, the group has withstood two-and-a-half decades of triumph and tragedy, but thanks to a shared belief in music’s power to unite and heal, Inner Circle have made it through some turbulent times and are continuing to crank out some of the most stirring reggae music ever created.
Doors open at 7pm with Senegalese reggae artist, Elhadji, opening at 8:00.  Tickets are on sale now at the usual local outlets and online at www.inticketing.com for a price of $28 advance.  Tickets at the door will be $30.  MCC members receive a $2 discount.  For more info call 923-3368 or visit www.mateel.org and don’t miss Inner Circle and special guest, Elhadji, at the Mateel this Saturday, February 27th.
