The Industrial Technology Show

What:

Students from seven Humboldt County high schools will display their woodworking, drafting, metals, and machine work at the county’s annual high school Industrial Technology Show, scheduled to run Friday, June 5, through Sunday, June 7, 2009, at the Bayshore Mall in Eureka.

The show will feature student projects from Eureka High School, Ferndale High School, Fortuna High School, Hoopa High School, McKinleyville High School and Blue Ox Community School industrial technology classes.  Approximately 245 projects will be on display.

College of the Redwoods instructors have volunteered to judge the students’ projects. They will award a total of 39 trophies including category winners in the junior (grades 9 and 10) and senior (grades 11 and 12) divisions, as well as winners of Best of Division.

Top division projects will compete for the Gary Roberts Best of Show trophy.  Roberts, who passed away in January 2005, was a long-time member of the Humboldt County Board of Education and an advocate for quality career and technical education in local high schools.

The public can view the Industrial Technology Show throughout the weekend during regular Bayshore Mall hours.  Selected projects will be available for sale.

The Industrial Technology Show is sponsored by the Humboldt County Office of Education’s Rising Stars Foundation, the Humboldt Regional Occupational Program and Humboldt County school districts.  For more information, contact Lori Breyer, Industrial Technology Show Coordinator, at 445-7018.
