Trash often evokes images of filth and waste, but Tibora Bea's photographs of trash are colorful and crisp. The series entitled; Discarded and Reused, is being showcased during the month of July at Trinidad's own ecologically responsible, Beachcomber Café. The inventive images of discarded items contrast with the other half of the series, which documents creative re-use around the Globe. It is this second life of objects, which can greatly transform our relationship with the materials that surround us. On the local front of waste reduction, The Beachcomber Cafe has recently been praised for efforts to lessen their restaurant's environmental impact. In addition to their food and drink specialties, they are now offering an evening dinner service every Sunday and Monday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The opening celebration of Discarded and Reused will coincide with the Sunday dinner festivities and will take place on July 6th from 6 – 9 p.m. The opening event will feature wine tasting provided by Arcata's own sustainable and biodynamic wine purveyors, Geolink Wine.
