Humboldt Disability Action Day

What:

The Humboldt Disability Action Day march/rally will be held from 5-6:30 p.m., Friday, June 4 at the front entrance to the Humboldt County Courthouse in Eureka. This event is intended to provide local people with disabilities, seniors, home care providers, students, family members and other community members the opportunity to speak out regarding Governor Schwarzenegger’s proposed state budget cuts to In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS), mental health, Medi-Cal, SSI, Regional Centers, CalWORKS, public transportation, public education and other programs/services. Awareness will also be raised regarding the Governor’s so-called “anti-fraud” measures aimed at IHSS providers and recipients.

The march/rally will feature several speakers, including representatives from the local offices of Assemblyman Wes Chesbro and Senator Pat Wiggins, as well as music and the opportunity to sign letters and petitions to elected officials.
