Humboldt County Independent Business Mixer

What:

On Wednesday, July 29, the Humboldt County Independent Business
Alliance will hold its first mixer from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m., at Alternative
Building Center in Eureka (4 West Fourth Street).

It will be an open mixer for HumIBA members, Local Options Directory listers,
and others who are interested in learning more about HumIBA and networking
with independent business owners.

“The event will be fun,” said project co-coordinator Scott Menzies. “It’s
going to be a social hour.”

“Local Options Directories will also be available at the mixer for folks to
take,” said HumIBA intern Claire Cahen. “We want to encourage people to bring
any questions they have about HumIBA.”

According to HumIBA, the mixer is a good way for independent business owners
to connect with each other, and thus to create a strong sense of community.

“Bring your business cards!” said Menzies. “This is all about networking.”

Local businesses have stepped up to help put on the mixer.

“We really appreciate Alternative Building Center providing the space and
giving folks a chance to chat and get to know each other,” said Menzies.

“All the food at the event will be provided by independent businesses, like
the North Coast Co-Op, and Sweet Basil Catering will be preparing the food,”
said Cahen.

“Everyone can enjoy tasty snacks and drinks while discussing how we can work
together to support indy businesses in Humboldt,” she added.

For more information about the mixer, or to learn more about how businesses
can participate in HumIBA, go to www.humiba.org, or contact Scott or Claire at
