Hometown Huddle

What:

In partnership with Humboldt State University (HSU), United Way will be hosting a Hometown Huddle, which will feature Rey Maualuga of the Cincinnati Bengals.  Rey was raised in Humboldt County and attended Eureka High School, before going to USC. He just finished his first year in the NFL and will soon come home to share his experience and give back to his community.

Hometown Huddle will present a “Play 60” NFL/United Way based event that encourages kids to get at least 60 minutes of activity each day. Participants will have an opportunity to interact directly with Rey Maualuga and HSU athletes as they rotate throughout various stations, learning drills, agility and other techniques. Kids will gain a unique opportunity to play and be mentored while enjoying the benefits of activity. Photos and autographs will also be part of the fun. The “Play 60” event is free and open to ages 7-17 but only for the first 300 registrants, so pre-register now by calling 443.8637 or click here for a registration form. Join us for a fun and elegant evening to benefit the health and education of our youth. This event will feature Rey Maualuga as the keynote speaker and attendees will have a chance to hear about the journey and experiences that have influenced his path. Throughout the evening, guests will enjoy an exquisite dinner and signature event cocktails created by Avalon Restaurant. There will be live music and a live auction, so come enjoy entertainment and camaraderie while supporting the youth of our community. This is a kick-off to our LIVE UNITED campaign and funds raised will help us focus on increasing youth literacy in Humboldt and Del Norte County in partnership with the 20/20 Vision: Decade of Difference. Tickets are $75 per person.
