CenterArts presents Masters of the Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar featuring George Kahumoku, Jr., Rev. Dennis Kamakahi and Jeff Peterson on Saturday, September 18th, 2010 at 8 p.m. in the Van Duzer Theatre, HSU. Three of Hawaii’s best-loved slack key guitar players present an exciting evening full of tropical melodies. With the sound of swaying palms, rolling oceans and echoing birds, Kiho´alu (slack key) captures the magic of the Islands. Developed more than 150 years ago, slack key refers to the altered tunings of the acoustic guitar that are unique to the musical heritage of Hawai’i.
