Alborosie, The Shengen Clan, Beatnok, Akaboom Sound (reggae)

What:

Alborosie, born Alberto D’Ascola in 1977, is a reggae artist born in Sicily, Italy, but now residing in Kingston, Jamaica. He is a multi-instrumentalist, being proficient in guitar, bass, drums and piano. His musical career began in the reggae group Reggae National Tickets when he was 15 years old, in which he was known as Stena. In 2001 Alborosie decided to try a solo career. He moved to Jamaica to be close to reggae music’s roots and rastafari culture. There, he started working as sound engineer and producer working with artists like Gentleman and Ky-Mani Marley. His first solo album was called Soul Pirate. In the summer of 2009 he released his second album called “Escape from Babylon. The music video for the song “Herbalist” was banned in Jamaica because of its depiction of drug dealing. Alborosie’s hits include “Rastafari Anthem”, “Kingston Town”, and “Call Up Jah”. Alborosie recently started his own record label, Forward Recordings. He has given concerts all round the world, including most of Europe and Jamaica.

Pressure

Blessed with a smooth melodic voice that has been capturing the attention of many in his home town of the US Virgin Islands, and writing skills that can capture a story like no other, Pressure, born Delyno Brown is ready to take Jamaica and the international audience by storm. Early in his career Pressure joined a group with 6 other artist with whom he shared a common goal, to spread the word of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie 1st through sweet Reggae music. The group opened for international reggae star Sizzla Kalunji in 2000. After an excellent performance the group was in high demand and then went on to open for other top acts such as Capleton, Buju Banton, Bunny Wailer and Junior Reid among others. Pressure eventually went solo, and went on to open for Sizzla, Elephant Man and multi platinum recording artist Sean Paul. Pressure is currently working on his sophomore album with internationally acclaimed reggae dancehall producer Donovan “Don Corleon” Bennett.
