Festival on the plaza opens at 10 a.m. and moves over to the Arcata Ballpark at 6 p.m.
9:30 a.m. – Six Rivers Running Club 5K run
Start at the Arcata Marsh at Klopp Lake/I St. parking lot. Registration information available

10 a.m. Jubilee begins on the Arcata plaza
Begin your holiday with live local music, arts and crafts booths, food booths, a kid’s area, fire truck rides
A dunk tank and a full-fledged farmer’s market.
10 a.m. – Jenni Simpson: folk singer
For the past five years, Jenni has been performing a wide variety of musical genres in and around
Humboldt County. She enjoys writing and singing her own music, and has a love for musical
theater. She most recently played Szurcha in NCRT’s critically acclaimed Fiddler on the Roof.
She has also been a featured soloist with the Arcata Interfaith Gospel Choir.
10:30 a.m. – Rhythmically Challenged: Swing dancers
Swing and Lindy Hop dance group directed by Evan Healy. Come by and dance!
11 a.m. – Eyes Anonymous: 80’s tribute band
Known as “The 80’s Mercedes for the Ladies” – the high energy 80’s cover dance band has been
based out of Arcata for the past two years. Eyes Anonymous frequents the Humboldt County music
scene with band members: Leah Crenshaw – vocals, “Martian Bishop”– guitar/base/vocals,
Rico “The Barren” Von Rabenau – guitar/base/vocals, Justin “Pirana” Schwartzman – synthesizers
And Tyler Lusk – drums.
12 p.m. - Jesse Mills Band: funk and blues band
Jesse Mills Band is a power trio locally based out of Trinidad that consists of Jesse Mills on guitar and
vocals, Bobby Amirkhan on bass, and Collin Replogle on drums. This new rock band blends flavors
of funk, blues and jazz into their unique sound and original songs, with solid guitar, bass, and drums.
12:30 p.m. – Humboldt Crabs Baseball vs. Nevada Bighorns
Come shake your cow bells to open the first game of a double-header, with the second game starting
at 7 p.m. at the Arcata Ballpark.
1 p.m. – Bandemonium: Americana and percussion world music
Humboldt Bandemonium, known for it's eclectic repertoire of world band music in the service of
local charities and the Humboldt Folklife Festival, will celebrate the 4th on the Plaza with a program
of the incredible bounty of American music. Duke Ellington, Jimi Hendrix, The Osbornes,
Frank Zappa, Eddie Cochran, Irving Berlin and Alice Cooper are just a few of the great American
composers to be represented.
2 p.m. – Bayou Swamis: zydeco country rock band
The Bayou Swamis have stolen the funky Zydeco dance beats from the swamps of Louisiana and
planted them firmly in the marshes of Humboldt County. For over ten years, they have featured
a growing repertoire of Cajun two-steps and Zydeco stomps, and they also swamp up classic swing
tunes, country standards and traditional '50s rockers.
The musicians: Randle Lundberg - button accordion, fiddle and vocals, David Bradley - acoustic and
electric guitar and vocals, Jeff Landen – guitar and vocals, Kate Koelmel - triangle, rub board and vocals,
Marla Joy - bass guitar and vocals / Tim Gray - Drums and vocals.
3 p.m. – Ukesperience: ukulele folk rock band
Based out of Humboldt County, CA and formed in 2006, Ukesperience is a primo blend of folk and
rock with a tropical twist. The ukulele-based group features unique, custom, innovative instruments
in ukulele form. They don't tiptoe through the tulips, Ukesperience runs amuck in the musical forest.
Joe Koches is on concert uke and lead vocals. On tenor uke, lapsteel, and electric uke, is Jason Hodel.
Bass player, Tim Johnston, custom made some of the ukes, including his bass ukuleles, lapsteel uke,
and electric uke. Dave Sandomeno plays percussion, and Nick Moore is on drums.
4 p.m. - Samba Na Chuva and Bloco Firmeza: Brazilian samba dancers and orchestra
Samba na Chuva is a Humboldt County based Brazilian dance troupe of six ladies (Desiree, Maria, Lisa,
Liz, Juliet, and Nicola) who love to shake it to Brazilian grooves. Formed in 2006, they perform at
concerts, weddings, fundraisers and parties and often collaborate with local orchestra, Bloco Firmeza.
4:45 p.m. – Humboldt Rockers: Hip-hop breakdancing group
Freeform breakdancers based out of Arcata and coordinated by “Reckless” Rex Atienza.
5:15 p.m. - DJ Dub Cowboy: Reggae local radio personality and club DJ
DJ Dub Cowboy provides a running soundtrack for life in Humboldt County. From up in the hills to
downtown, across campus, in our homes and places of business, he's kept us rocking for almost 10 years.
He's known under various aliases for many styles of music, from classics to cutting edge, but Dub Cowboy
is the name of the reggae selecta who reaches out from KHSU every Friday, with the Reggae Jamdown, and
now spreads the beat worldwide from bigupradio.com.
6 p.m. Jubilee ends on the plaza, festivities move over to the Arcata ballpark
7 p.m. – Humboldt Crabs Baseball vs. Nevada Bighorns
Second game of a double-header at the Arcata ballpark. More cowbell!
Dark o’clock: Free FIREWORKS display over the Arcata Community Center
Wrap up in a blanket with you favorite folks and watch some awesome explosions in the sky -
sponsored by the Arcata Chamber of Commerce.
