Fortuna Fireworks Festival

Celebrate Independence Day a little early in Friendly Fortuna with some Family Fun, a BBQ, softball and Fireworks from 5 to 10 pm on Saturday, July 3, in Newburg Park.
The Fortuna Community has come together to offer something you don’t get every day. An evening full of Free Family Fun at this years Second Annual Fortuna Fireworks Festival.
With generous donations from service clubs, businesses and individuals, Fortuna invites the public to celebrate Independence Day with entertainment and kids activities with out the usual festival price tag.
Fireworks will start at dark. Free parking is available just past Newburg Park in the Mora Field. Everyone is encouraged to bring your own chairs or blankets.
Free 3-D fireworks viewing glasses will be available to kids while supplies last.
All kids wanting to enjoy the entertainment must be accompanied by an adult and have a parent or guardian sign a liability waiver in exchange for a wristband thatallows free unlimited activities from 5 to 8:30 pm.
Free activities include bounce houses, a huge slide and an inflatable obstacle coarse as well as a giant rock climbing wall, face painting, balloon art, potato sack races and kids fireman games.
The first annual apple pie eating contest will start at 6 pm followed by gymnastic demos from Health Sport at 7 pm.
Mike Gibbs will perform live patriotic music throughout the event and anyone, regardless of experience level or age, can bring a glove and get in on a community game of softball.
A BBQ from 5 pm to 9 pm will help raise funds for school supplies put on by Supply our Students.
All BBQ proceeds will be donated to K-12 th grade students in the Eel River Valley.Hamburgers, Veggie Burgers and Hot Dog plates with watermelon and potato salad or chips and will beavailable for $5 and $6.
Drinks, Cotton Candy, Popcorn, Nachos and other snacks will also be available for purchase.
