Summer of Art Film Series: Art Films from Independent Lens

HELVETICA is a film about typography, graphic design and global visual culture. It looks at the proliferation of one typeface (which celebrated its 50th birthday in 2007) as part of a larger conversation about the way type affects our lives. The film is an exploration of urban spaces in major cities and the type that inhabits them, and a fluid discussion with renowned designers about their work, the creative process, and the choices and aesthetics behind their use of type.

First Thursday Film Night, as part of larger project, ITVS COMMUNITY CINEMA, is a monthly screening series showcasing the Emmy Award-winning PBS series Independent Lens. Presented in partnership with KEET-TV, Humboldt State University and the Morris Graves Museum of Art, ITVS COMMUNITY CINEMA aims to build connections among diverse communities, public television stations and leading community organizations working on a range of important social issues.
