Eureka Symphony Winter Concert

What:

The Eureka Symphony’s Winter Concert is at 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 3 and Saturday, February 4, 2012, at the Arkley Center for Performing Arts, 412 G Street in Eureka, California. The Eureka Symphony, conducted by Carol Jacobson, begins its Winter Concert with Fanny Mendelssohn’s stirring Overture in C.  This will be followed by Howard Hanson’s Symphony #6, written for the 125th anniversary of the New York Philharmonic. Then the audience will be delighted by Fred Tempas, featured soloist, as he performs the Concerto for Tuba by Ralph Vaughan Williams, the definitive work for the tuba. The auditorium doors will open at 7:00 p.m. for  the Symphony’s new Music Notes program.  This 2011-2012  season, before each concert, John Chernoff and Daniela Mineva share their knowledge and skills with the audience.  Present-day significance of the music played in the program, its historical context, and musical structure will be demonstrated using the piano.   Come early and join in this informal talk from 7:00 to 7:30 before each Eureka Symphony performance.

To purchase tickets for the Winter Concert, call 707-442-1956.  Adult ticket prices are $32 for Loge, $28 for Center Orchestra, and $19 for General.  Student ticket price is $9, and under 12 are admitted free.
