Eureka Sequoia Garden Club May Program

GARY TODOROFF PRESENTS PROGRAM ON GARDEN PHOTOGRAPYHY

The Eureka Sequoia Garden Club will meet on Thursday, May 27, 2010, at the Eureka Woman’s Club, 1531 J Street, Eureka (at J and 16th). The business meeting starts at 11:00 am and the luncheon at 12:00 noon. Refreshments and dessert will be provided; bring your own sandwich.

The program begins at 12:30 pm. and features local photographer Gary Todoroff. He will present the program “Garden Photography,” to help you make photographs from the dramatic landscape of nature and colors all around us. Using photographs from around the world, the program will include some technical examples of light, exposure and equipment. Included will be enough examples of our beautiful world to keep anyone interested who simply wants to enjoy gardens and flowers through photography

Todoroff is a professional commercial and aerial photographer who also teaches at College of the Redwoods.

A special bonus for attendees this month is a Flower Arranging Class at 10:00 am. This features Mary Lou Goodwin, owner of Eureka Florist and past president of California Garden Clubs, Inc. She will teach us how to make an arrangement for “Holiday Time.” The class will assist in preparing entries for the June 23-27 Redwood Acres Fair.
Attendees must bring their own container, flowers and pruners.

Visitors and those interested in gardening are invited to attend this meeting, beginning at 11:00 am. Those looking to join a garden club are especially welcome. This will be the last regularly scheduled meeting until this Fall. The Eureka Sequoia Garden Club, founded in 1967, is a member of the California Garden Clubs, Inc. and the Humboldt District, California Garden Clubs, Inc. Our Goals are to create and promote interest in horticulture gardening and floral and landscape design; to encourage and engage in civic beautification and the improvement of roadsides; to aid in protecting California’s native plants, wildlife and natural beauty; and to promote, and participate in, projects and programs that conserve our natural resources. Meetings are held the Fourth Thursday of each month at the Eureka Woman’s Club 1531 J Street, Eureka, at 11 am.
