Zounding Off!

What:

Continuing its tradition of quality performances, on January 23 Redwood Curtain Theatre is launching its 2010 season with its third annual, original live radio show, * Zounding Off!*

The show, which will be broadcast live on KHUM 104.3, is an original, Humboldt-inspired variety show.  * Zounding Off! *—featuring the critically acclaimed talents of Redwood Curtain writers and actors, including Pamela Lyall, James Floss, Bob Wells, Randy Wayne, Bonnie Halverson, Ron Halverson, Terry Desch, and Steve Carter, among others — will be broadcast from the Sapphire Palace at the Blue Lake Casino. Live audience members will enjoy a no-host bar, hors d’oeuvres, and catered dinner before the show begins.

“We have had so much fun creating and performing Zounds! in 2008, and then the follow up, Re-Zounds! last year,” explained Artistic Director Clint Rebik.  “We are very grateful to KHUM for sponsoring this now annual event!”  Audience members who participated in the live show were treated to an excellent catered dinner, audience participation and lots of laughs.  “And we have some really big surprises this year!” exclaimed Executive Director Peggy Metzger.

“We had such a blast at Zounds! and Re-Zounds!  These shows are hilarious!” said audience member Linda Byrne.  “We can’t wait to see what new zaniness they come up with for the next one – we wouldn’t miss it!”

Zounding Off! features live sound effects, musical numbers, and a host of local advertisers.  The zany performance is also peppered with original sketches and new twists to spice up the night for the live audience participants.

“Definitely a highlight for me was hearing my mother on the radio!” noted audience member Bernadette Cheyne.  “She had such a fun time being a part of the live show, and we’re looking forward to more antics this year!”

Zounding Off! is the first event in an exciting Season 2010, which will be announced in its entirety at the event.  “This year promises to be a really big one for us,” added Rebik.  “But we can’t reveal our season or any secrets until the 23rd….so you better either be there, or be listening live!”

Tickets to Zounding Off! are $50 and include the show, hors d’oeuvres, and a catered buffet dinner. Wine will be served with the meal and a no-host bar will also be available.  The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 23 for appetizers and dinner, and the radio show will begin at 8 p.m.  Tickets can be purchased online at www.redwoodcurtain.com or by phone at 707-443-7688.

“Last year’s event was a virtual sell-out, so we encourage folks to purchase tickets quickly,” noted Metzger.  “KHUM will be broadcasting live on 104.3 FM for those unable to attend in person, but it’s even more fun to participate live with friends at your own table!”
