The Marching Lumberjacks (MLJs) take pride in being one of the only remaining student-organized and student-run organizations in college bands today. What we feel a college band should be. We don’t do that marching in step stuff - at least not intentionally, we don’t do Latin fanfares, lame marching band competitions, and we don’t waste our time making sure everyone’s feet are exactly 6 inches off the ground or any other junk like that. We’ve got jugglers, dancers, kazoo players, KEG players as well as some very talented musicians. In short - this AIN’T your typical college band and this sure as heck isn’t your high school band either. If you want to march, join the Army! This is college - it’s supposed to be fun!

David Cobb was the Green Party nominee for President of the United States in 2004. He served as the General Counsel for the Green Party until declaring his candidacy in 2003. His entire legal career is dedicated to challenging illegitimate corporate power and to creating democracy. In 2002 he ran for state Attorney General in Texas on a platform to use the office to revoke the charters of corporations that break the law and challenge corporate ability to manipulate the legal system at the expense of the people.

Ya Habibi Dance Company a fantastic group of dancers dedicated to dazzling audiences with complex choreographies and produces concerts and events including the Redwood Coast Bellydance Festival. She has taught workshops across the United States and in 2004 won the title of Belly Dancer of the Year. While Shoshanna’s expressive and dramatic style draws from many sources, her inspiration is always the emotional heart of the music.

http://www.myspace.com/sambamore
sambAmore was born out of the artistic community in which we call home, Humboldt County. Drumming and dancing have long been a strong influence in this area. The dance and drum relationship is rooted deep in African community celebration. Jesse Jonathon, music director for sambAmore and a graduate of Humboldt State’s Music Department found a passion for community music and dance. It was his desire to mix drumming and dancing with a powerful melodic presence, so he recruited a band of brass and woodwind players to perform his original compositions and arrangements. Andelain L. Roy, dance director for sambAmore, was born and raised dancing in Humboldt. Andelain shares the same passion for community celebration, dancing in her first parade in 1991. Andelain leading the dancers and Jesse leading the band the group can be found playing parades and stage performances to inspire their community and encourage Humboldt to sambAmore.

Born and raised in Humboldt County, Alec Perron is award-winning juggler extraordinaire!  Recipient of the 2009 Humboldt Bay Kiwanis Club Stars of Tomrorow Youth Talent Show Gold Medal.  Seasoned with many performances with various circus groups in Northern California, Alec, at 12 years old is Humboldt Counties very own juggling prodigy!
