The Absynth Quintet  melds the familiar and the avant-gard with a unique and provocative palette of tone and texture. This is streetcorner swing with a sense of humor, bluegrass with footstomping danceability, intertwined with playful forays into the depths of sophisticated musical experimentation. The Eugene Weekly places the sound “somewhere along the spectrum of acoustic-improvisational-

gypsy-jazz…plucky and tight à la David Grisman” with “a dash of Eastern European exoticism that puts you in a smoky, understated hash bar kind of mood”. Recent performances had the band sharing the stage with such acts as Vince Herman, Thamusement, Vagabond Opera, David Grisman Quintet, Peter Rowan and Hot Buttered Rum. The Absynth Quintet is now celebrating the release of a milestone new album, Indigo Shoes.

An average American guy, Jeb, who is admittedly not a “tree hugger,” makes a resolution to stop using plastic bags at the grocery store. Little does he know that this simple decision will change his life completely. He comes to the conclusion that our consumptive use of plastic has finally caught up to us, and looks at what we can do about it. Today. Right now. Our story begins as Jeb, an average American guy who is admittedly not a “tree hugger,” makes a pledge to stop using plastic bags. This simple action gets Jeb thinking about all kinds of plastic. Jeb embarks on a global tour to unravel the complexities of our plastic world. As Jeb’s journey takes a personal twist, we see how our crazy-for-plastic world has finally caught up to us and what we can do about it. Today. Right now. BAG IT  is a film that examines our society’s use and abuse of plastic. The film focuses on plastic as it relates to our society’s throwaway mentality, our culture of convenience, our over consumption of unnecessary, disposable products and packaging—things that we use one time and then, without another thought, throw them away. Where is AWAY?? Away is over flowing landfills, clogged rivers, islands of trash in our oceans, and even our very own toxic bodies. Jeb travels the globe on a fact-finding mission—not realizing that after his simple resolution, plastic will never look the same again!

Rob Machado and Shane Dorian transform an old Australian farmhouse into a surfers’ commune in this film, which banishes all commercial and competitive aspects of the sport. Content to merely soak up the atmosphere, surfers Kelly Slater, Joel Tudor, Mick Fanning and many others hang out at the refuge. FEATURING SURFING by Rob Machado, Taylor Knox, Joel Tudor, Mick Fanning, Dean Morrison, Jack Johnson, The Malloys, Kelly Slater, Conan Hayes, Nathan Webster, Nat Young, Hans Hagen, Joe Curren, Mike Todd, Pascal Stansfeild, Brad Gerlach, Ben Bourgeois, Donavon F., Ross Williams, Brit Caillouette, Shane Dorian, Malia Jones, Jon Swift, and Luke Stedman.
