RENT

What:
RENT one of Broadway’s most riveting shows, ushered in a new era of realism in the musical milieu, brashly and frankly tackling such taboo topics as AIDS, drug addiction, and homosexuality within a rock-‘n’-roll framework. Centering on a close-knit group of starving artists in the Lower Manhattan slums who celebrate love, confront fear, and seek truth in the face of terminal disease and poverty, ‘Rent’ transforms Puccini’s classic opera, ‘La Boehme,’ into a contemporary rock opera with an uplifting message. With four 1996 Tony awards including best musical, seven drama desk awards and the Pulitzer prize, Rent has made a lasting mark on Broadway with songs that rock and a story that really resonates.
RENT plays at Ferndale Repertory Theatre August 5th through 29th with Friday and Saturday shows at 8pm and Sunday matinees at 2pm. Call 1.800.838.3006 or visit www.ferndale-rep.org for tickets. This production is sponsored by Wells Fargo Advisors. Rated PG-13 due to mature subject matter.
