La Espada del Corazon

What:

Get your tickets today for the Ferndale Dance Academy’s 8th annual production.  This year’s show, La Espada del Corazon (The Sword of the Heart), asks the question, what if Zorro was a girl?  What would she have been like?  And how did she get to be the mysterious, masked heroine who leaps from shadows to rescue those in distress?  Filled with flamenco skirts, swordplay, and Spanish guitar, La Espada is a fun childhood adventure story that all ages are sure to enjoy.  This year, to better bring our story to life, Michael East has produced a montage of photographs that will be projected behind the dancers.  This makes for a high energy and colorful production.

The cast features dancers Becca Harrison and Kelsey Wortman and advanced FDA students including Catherine Boers as Cora the “Zorresque” charater, Rachel Hess as Singing Grass, her best friend, Abigail Titus as Esperanza, the sword master, Rebeccah Davis as Madelena, the gypsy fortune teller, and Abbi Petersen and Kayla Thomas as the forest sprites.  Kelsey Becker, Sharon Harrison, Tiara Sanborn, Savannah Snyder and Allison Stanfield dance the lively gypsy chorus, and Jessie Hess and Hailey McEnry are featured as the childhood versions of Cora and Singing Grass respectively.

Performances of La Espada are at the Arkley the Center for the Performing Arts on June 25 and 26 at 7pm.  Tickets are available for purchase at the theatre box office or you can visit the Arkley online.  For ticket information, please call the box office at 442-1956.  For Dance Academy information, please call 496-0805 or go to www.ferndaledance.com
