Local author Arleen Olson signs copies of her book of photographs of Humboldt County.
Humboldt Wild is a chronicle of Olson’s explorations of the wild surroundings of Humboldt County and of the amazing spirit of the people who live here. Her spectacular visual journey through southern, central and northern Humboldt concludes with a chapter highlighting Humboldt’s numerous renowned local events. With such a diverse environment, this book celebrates what makes living in Humboldt County so extraordinary. Olson resides in Southern Humboldt and hopes her book will inspire people to visit and appreciate all the wonders Humboldt has to offer. Humboldt Wild is printed on sustainable forestry paper using soy ink.
About the author…
Arleen Olson has been a professional photographer for over 25 years working in both studio and environmental locations. She has photographed archeology, architecture, commercial products, portraits, weddings, special events and fine art in many different lighting situations. Her photographs have been published in local newspapers, environmental newsletters, college publications, books, brochures, and many magazines. Her Virgin Passage Poster was sold nationally in women’s bookstores. A compilation of her photographs are part of the permanent collection of Women Photographers in Humboldt County, 1850-2000, by Peter Palmquist, which resides at the Beinecke Library, Yale University as part of the Women in Photography International Archive. Arleen has exhibited her photographs throughout the mid-west and California.
