Fortune

What:

After their Glorious debut in their new home in Old Town, Redwood Curtain is thrilled to continue its delightful Season 2010 with Fortune, a quirky romantic comedy written by Deborah Zoe Laufer, recipient of the 2009 Helen Merrill Playwriting award.

This two-hander features the acting talents of Redwood Curtain’s Artistic Director Clint Rebik, and Conservatory and Casting Director Cassandra Hesseltine, and is helmed by veteran director Jyl Hewston (Proof, The Underpants, * and Fuddy Meers, *among others).

In this sweetly comic play, Maude, a third-generation fortune teller from Brooklyn, has accepted that love is not in the cards for her. But when Jeremy, a despondent love-hungry accountant threatens to kill himself if she sees no love for him, she must wrestle with fate, and in changing his destiny, change her own.

“Glorious sold out several of its performances,” said RC Executive Director Peggy Metzger, “and some people weren’t able to see it.  So we encourage people to come early in the run and be sure to make reservations….or buy tickets securely online!”

*Fortune * has an exciting design team lined up, with Dan Stockwell on scenic, Greta Stockwell on lighting, Dianna Thiel creating costumes, Christina Jioras doing make-up and hair, and Jon Turney on sound.

Fortune previews on Thursday and Friday July 15th and 16th with $10 tickets, and opening night with Gala reception is Saturday, July 17, with tickets at $17.  Performances continue Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights through July 31.  Cheap date Thursdays on July 22 and 29: two tickets for $20.  A 2pm Sunday matinee takes place on July 25.  Ticket price on Friday and Saturday (except Gala) nights is $15.

Redwood Curtain’s new home is at 220 First Street (between C and D) in Old Town, Eureka.  Main entrance through Snug Alley.

As the new theatre is intimate with only 80 seats, reservations are highly recommended, and there is no late seating.  Evening performances begin promptly at 8pm, Sunday matinees at 2pm.
